Welcome to this first issue of the Bike Friday User Group UK Newsletter.
What, you may ask, is the purpose of having a Bike Friday User Group in the UK? Well, Bike Friday in the USA have created a lot of enthusiasm amongst owners for their bikes, and this seems to be very much part of the culture of the company and the owners of the bikes. Most owners I have met here seem to feel the same way, but we are too far away to become involved in the activities arranged in the USA. So the idea of the User Group is to allow us to exchange views, meet etc. Membership of the group is open to anyone who is interested in Bike Fridays, and there is no charge for membership. We do have to reserve the theoretical right to exclude people from the group without having to explain why - but that is only intended to cover the case of a lot of people who dont own Fridays, but claim an interest in them, wanting to be members - the effect of this on the postal bill would be alarming!
The intention at present is to produce the Newsletter three times a year, and to keep it to the current size. Issues would appear in March, June and September, fitting in with the main cycling season here in the UK. If you have any comments on this we would be delighted to hear them. We would also be delighted to receive articles suitable for inclusion in future issues.
Please let us know of any suggestions you may have regarding the future of the User Group and the content of the Newsletter. Those of you who have some means of accessing the Internet will find that we keep a lot of information on our web pages - not just the newsletter, but technical support information and other topics. A more detailed description of our web pages appears on the back page.
Our original mailing list did not include all owners of Bike Fridays, so do please tell any Bike Friday owners you know or meet about the User Group. If you want to get in touch, then please do so via the address shown at the bottom of this page.
I look forward to meeting more of you at various events in the future.
Mike Hessey
