Steve Parry has apparently converted a Birdy to take 20 inch (406 version) wheels, and the bike was seen at one of the Bristol Mud Dock meetings recently. The 20 inch (406) wheel is a very standard size, used by BMX and a number of other small wheeled and folding bicycles. There are very many tyres available in this size, with a good choice of high performance road tyres through utility tyres to heavy duty off-road tyres. To fit the larger wheels and tyres, Steve has had constructed some extension pieces, as there would not be room to fit these wheels and tyres in the normal wheel flanges of the Birdy. it is understood that the total cost of conversion is of the order of 400 pound, so it's not a cheap modification.
